The courage to create keeps the flame burning!
Writing has always been one of Arlene’s passions in her ever-evolving creative life. As she says, “You have a way with words” is something I have always been told by many of my teachers, colleagues and friends through the years. I have always been a super sensitive soul and when I was young, I wasn’t sure if that was a blessing or a curse”.
Wearing her heart on her sleeve is the way she lives, and that is still true today, which can sometimes be difficult in a world that can be harsh. Arlene was born to create, and her “muse” has expressed itself in so many ways in her life. One of her great inspirations and loves comes from her garden and as she puts it, “It’s like painting the earth with God’s beautiful flowers and trees. When I am sitting in the beauty of silence and nature, so many ideas come rushing through my mind, it’s such a peaceful, inspiring meditation to me and my muse is dancing everywhere”.
She loves stories and finding a way to phrase things to bring something visual to the world as she chats away. Arlene’s talents excel in creative writing and public speaking, and she loves watching a great story unfold on film and television. Throughout her life, her friends would tell her to “get to the point, but going around the block and showing them all the cool things she feels and sees is in her nature, so she takes you on that journey with her.
As Arlene says, “Sometimes I think that I am way too sensitive for this world. Well, it has now become a blessing in my life and what makes me want to write and express all those feelings. Writing is a beautiful spiritual path for me, and I am beyond grateful to have this gift, and I believe it is a gift from the universe”.
Arlene believes writers are like finely tuned instruments of “inspiration” and so she has learned to open those channels to let the cosmic energy flow through her. As a writer, it can be scary to show your point of view, allow people into your most private thoughts and open your heart so it takes courage. Over these past years, she has evolved from writing hundreds of songs & music to writing scripts and it has been an enlightening, and inspiring journey. Being an activist in many ways and always fighting for justice, Arlene has been compelled to bring her point of view into her scripts. She always believes that writing is a deep and loving way to heal your heart, fight for justice, get out your outrage or just make you laugh. Most of all, FEEL.
As she says, “Writing will always be a spiritual path to me in whatever form it expresses itself and I am very grateful to let the words spill from my mind onto the paper. As I always say in my classes,
“YOU are the first person to name yourself and create your world. You name yourself as a writer, poet, artist… you bless yourself and tell the Universe “This is who I am” and as you do so, you become that which you focus on and choose to create”.
Arlene has some projects waiting in the wings and she can’t wait to share them with you.
THE COURAGE TO CREATE KEEPS THE FLAME BURNING !
